Provided by Aichi Prefectural Government
India has taken 13 places on the Aichi Scholarship since 2013 — second only to Vietnam (27) and ahead of Indonesia (10) and China (8). Two Indians were selected in 2025. This fully-funded programme covers ¥150,000/month plus all tuition for a 2.5-year master's (6 months research student + 2-year degree). Only 5 places per year.
Citizens of UN member states except Japan and North Korea (Vatican, Kosovo, Cook Islands, Niue and Taiwan also eligible) — India qualifies. Must currently reside outside Japan and be under 35 as of 1 April. Field must be relevant to Aichi's industry. Japanese proficiency required for study AND job-hunting. Must intend to work at a company in Aichi after graduating and complete an internship during studies. Apply through a graduate school in Aichi — no direct application.
For Indians who want to work in Aichi after graduating — this is a job-pipeline scholarship, not just a study scholarship. You must intend to job-hunt in Aichi and complete an internship. If you plan to leave Japan or work in Tokyo, this is not for you.
