Atsumi International Foundation offers one of the highest monthly stipends (¥250,000) for PhD students in their final dissertation year. It's specifically for doctoral candidates at universities in the Kanto or Kinki regions.
Doctoral students in their dissertation year at a graduate school in the Kanto or Kinki region, and resident there. About 18 awards for FY2027, max 5 per nationality. All documents and the interview are in Japanese. No nationality restriction.
For PhD students in their final year, based in the Kanto or Kinki region. The catch: very specific eligibility—you must be writing your dissertation and resident in one of those regions.
